Quebec City

Yesterday we went to beautiful Quebec City for the day.. and it rained all day. Not too shocked considering the waterproofness of my jacket has been very well tested over the last two weeks...and my umbrella definately did the whole blow inside out thing when I was at the grocery store a couple of days ago...good times. Ah well- we had a good time, ate Crepes at the best place ever that I go to everytime I go to Quebec City! and of course had some good ol' poutine with squeaky cheese..which by the way is sold in every store and gas station and is never kept in the fridge... Anyways, we started out by going to the Citadelle where the royal 22 regiment is in Quebec. Apparently the govenor general of canada lives there part time too and we saw her house...odd. We spent the rest of the day trying to dodge the rain and going in and out of shops..it was good times had by all. By the end of the night we were exhausted from walking around for 12 hours and went to catch the bus. But there were 400 hundred of us who took the buses in the morning and only about 120 who returned that night! The other 280 must have opted to stay in quebec city. There are many many rumours about the consquences for skipping out, but I doubt anything will actually happen. There were some girls behind us who were speaking in english the whole time and they didnt get in any trouble at all, so really, they are definately not being strict!

So many rumours are going around here. Ive talked to other people who have been in the program here in trois rivieres in the past and they have all commented how strict it is. Even a girl I met who came here in the past said how she got a red card after saying "cock a doodle doo" in english instead of french. The rumour is that last year the lawyer for the school got involved and told them to take a break from being hardasses, they used to even listen at the door of the apartments to see if you were speaking in english- but now they are not even listening in the cafeteria. Its kinda lame to tell the truth. So they have gone from one extremity to the other.

Today is hang around and do as little as possible day. Some friends are about to come over and we are going to watch a movie so that will be a sweet break. Mmmm pickles and movies..as my roomate Christina says " J'aime le pickles"
