Little road trip

Last saturday Dave and I had the best day. We made ourselves a picnic lunch full of awesome food such as pasta salad, cherries, peas, chips, and sandwiches and headed out in the afternoon towards Sylan Lake...on the motorcycle of course. It was 30 outside and beautiful and we hooked up our communication system, cranked up the tunes, and headed out of town. We decided to go the slow way and take all the back highways for some good scenery and within an hour we found ourselves at Ma-me-o beach. We were planning on stopping there for some lunch and went to park the bike but discovered the public parking was all sand so the bike kept sinking in. So next door to the parking area there was a beautiful home and two older people sitting on their deck enjoying the sunshine. After asking them if we could borrow a corner of their driveway to park on we discovered we found the most hospitable people in mameo! They invited us in, filled our waterbottles, let us store our stuff, lent us the use of their backyard and deck (which is right on the beach) and offered to refrigerate our lunch! So it turns out they were going for a walk soon so we could take our time, have fun on the beach, maybe go for a walk, and just hang out. They were amazing. So amazing in fact that we decided to nix the Sylvan lake idea which would have been a crazy gong show full of people, and stay at mameo where there was less people and we had use of this awesome place! Unfortunately the water isn't as deep but it was good enough and freezing cold anyways! After a few hours of maxin and relaxin there we decided to pack up and they were home again so they filled up our bottles with water and ice and we ended up chatting for a good half hour. They directed us towards the village at pigeon lake so there we headed.
The village is super cute. We had the best icecream and the coolest little shops to shop around in. It was such an awesome time.
Next we headed towards Gull Lake which was another hour away and once we got there we had some dinner and just enjoyed the sunshine. Unfortunately we thought we should get on our way so we could be home around 9:30.
But then we happened to be going through Wetaskiwin and we couldn't help but stop to visit Grandma and Grandpa who were really surprised and excited to see us! It was such a great little visit, and we hadn't seen them in a while. Plus Grandma inevitably filled the table full of food and we had to eat eat eat! So we stayed there until around 10 or so and figured we should get going before it got too dark.
On the road it got a little chilly since the temperature had dropped about 8 degrees and there was rain in the air...but we didn't have to stop to put on the raingear and the ride was great. We finally made it home after a very very full day around11 pm. Our original plan was to go out for the afternoon and be home around 6 maybe? Looks like we made a bit of a detour!

Awesome road trip! Do you remember going to that shopping centre with Grandma and Grandpa?? OR was it just me and Tim?
